As previously reported, Malaysia's film censors at the Film Censorship Board (LPF) banned the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, claiming it contained unnatural and sadistic sex scenes, including ones involving a woman being bound
and whipped. Well it seems that it would have been a bit inconsistent not to also ban the book, so that's exactly what the government has dones The ministry's order comes 3 years after the book was published in the country. A federal
gazette order issued by Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi stated that the books were prohibited because they were likely to be prejudicial to morality . The three E.L James book, Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty
Shades Freed , chronicle the bizarre relationship between a female student, Anastasia Steele, and a young billionaire, Christian Grey. Apart from banning the sale of the books, the government has also prohibited the importation, reproduction and
possession of the books. The ban comes under the Printing Presses and Publications (Control of Undesirable Publications) Order 2015 and is dated Feb 24. |

Fifty Shades of Grey is a 2015 USA sexy romance by Sam Taylor-Johnson. Starring Dakota Johnson, Jamie Dornan and Jennifer Ehle.
Literature student Anastasia Steele's life changes
forever when she meets handsome, yet tormented, billionaire Christian Grey.
The US film censors of the MPAA have awarded the film an R rating for: Strong sexual content including dialogue, some unusual
behavior and graphic nudity, and for language.
An R rated film is considered suitable for children aged 17 and above. The rating also means that younger children may see the film in a theatre if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Clearly this openness to children rather restricts the amount of sex allowed in an R rated film and means that Red Shoes Diary type chocolate box erotica is about as sexy as these films can become. Of course the marketeers will now have a damn
good try at convincing you otherwise. |

A film advert for the forthcoming movie, Fifty Shades of Grey, was taken down from outside a cinema after the cinema received a few whinges. The poster depicted the head and shoulders of Dakota Johnson, playing Anastasia Steele, blindfolded, bare
shouldered and apparently in the throes of passion. The poster was on display outside the recently refurbished leisure complex. A spokesman for the Garden City Cinema said: We are very sorry if we caused
any offence to anyone. The film is set to be a huge blockbuster and is already selling well with us, even though it doesn't open until Valentine's Day 2015. The poster reflects the erotic nature of the film
and was not explicit, but we understand if some people have taken offence.

Shades of Grey fans in New Zealand will continue to have unrestricted access to the controversial trilogy following a decision by the chief censor. The Chief Censor Office of Film and Literature classification has ruled to keep the sale of the
book available without an age restriction. Random House New Zealand managing director Karen Ferns said the decision was a victory for common sense and freedom of expression: To have restricted publication would
have put New Zealand out of step with comparable democratic countries such as the UK, Australia, Canada and the United States. Books with similar levels of explicit sexual content have been available for years.
The book was given an M certificate which is an advisory 16 rating.

Fans of a best-selling erotic novel face a premature end to their reading pleasure because the second and third instalments of the trilogy have been withdrawn from the UAE bookshops. Employees at some of the country's biggest bookstores say
all three books of the Fifty Shades trilogy, by the British author EL James, were available until about a month ago, when there was a sudden withdrawal of the final two books in the series - Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed.
However, the first book in the series, Fifty Shades of Grey , remains on sale. A saleswoman at Magrudy's in Abu Dhabi's Al Wadha Mall said they were still waiting for books two and three. They're banned. We don't know when we
will get them, she said. At Book World by Kinokuniya, in Dubai Mall, a saleswoman said the store was not allowed to sell the final instalments. Virgin Megastore, which has a large display of the first book in Abu Dhabi Mall, said
the second and third books have not been granted approval in the UAE at the moment . Iain Paul Martin, Virgin's regional senior books buyer, said all the store's books required an approval certificate from the department of media content at the
NMC. In this case, books 2 and 3 of the Grey trilogy have not been granted the certificate, he said. But strangely the National Media Council (NMC), the government authority overseeing censorship, has rigorously denied imposing any such
ban, claiming that stores deciding not to sell the book have decided to do so of their own accord. Ibrahim Al Abed, the director general of the NMC, said the council had nothing to do with these things . We do not censor books. It's up to the
bookshops who can decide to ban the books, he said.

The director of a women's refuge is calling on people to burn copies of the popular erotic novel Fifty Shades Of Grey , ludicrously claiming it is degrading and encourages sexual violence. While some critics have sneered at the quality
of the writing, the book, which features scenes of sado-masochistic sex, has become the fastest-selling paperback of all time. But Clare Phillipson, director of the Wearside Women In Need, has called on people to burn them on a bonfire on November
5. She spouted: Our concern is not the graphic depiction of sex - this is an abusive relationship presented as a love story. It normalises abuse, degrades women and encourages sexual violence. There is lots of abuse in the book, not just sexual abuse.
Do millions and millions of women suffer from secret self-loathing? Do they all want to be treated this badly? Some of what happens in the book, Fred West did to his victims in his cellar.
I fail to see what is erotic about that.
She added: There's an assumption that Nazis are the only people who burn books. What we are saying is, this book
is rubbish and we would like to reduce it to ashes. We are not burning the Bible or a political philosophy, we are burning the depiction of an abusive man as a romantic hero.

| It seems that the best selling book of all times was somehow forced on people by everything in life that doesn't fit her nutter view of morality. Can't possibly be just down to

Such is the power of the media hype Fifty Shades of Grey has become an overnight hit with young women and even teenagers who are reading it quite openly with none of the embarrassment which would normally have accompanied such a book before, even
including most of the Australian women's swimming team after discovering it in a service station on their way to the Games from Manchester, presumably alongside other novels and within sight of children. It is not just EL James
and her own perverse imagination which are subverting public morals so dramatically; it is the whole of the communications industry which is driving e marketing to an audience who have become gradually desensitised over time by films and TV programmes
targeted often specifically at the 16-34 age group, and which increasingly feature sexually explicit material and bondage. Sexually provocative music lyrics and videos by Madonna, Lady Gaga and Rihanna's S&M are popular with
teens and children. Retailers of bondage gear are also making a killing it seems with reports that the book has led to a surge in the sale of whips, handcuffs and other instruments of torture. ...Read the full
